Participants will be invited into land-based learning explores relationships with animals through Indigenous knowledge, farming practices, and shared ceremony. Grounded in teachings that understand animals as relatives rather than resources, this gathering will reflect on how human life is sustained through respectful relationships with creation and the responsibilities that come with those relationships.
The day will introduce Indigenous perspectives on working with animal hides as a sacred and relational practice. Traditional hide tanning will be shared as a ceremony of renewal, gratitude, and intergenerational teaching, honouring the life of the animal and ensuring its gifts continue in a meaningful and respectful way. Participants will also engage biblical teachings that speak to human relationships with animals, stewardship, and care for creation.
The gathering will include a guided farm tour focused on animal husbandry, participation in tanning a hide, and preparing a shared meal over the fire using food raised on the farm.
Together, participants will experience the rhythms of the land and the relationships that sustain both people and animals. The day will also include participation in a Standing Stones Ceremony (a contextualized Indigenous worship and communion service) and will conclude with a closing blessing for the farm.
We welcome anyone interested in deepening relationships with the land, Indigenous teachings, and creation care to participate. Space is limited to 15 people.
